Coaching Experience
Chew Valley Junior Badminton Club

Recent Teams played for:
(I am Chair of) Bristol & District Badminton Club – where I play
Bristol League Mixed and Men’s Division 1 and 2 (when required; usually when no one else is available)
Avon County Masters Over 50s
Chew Valley Badminton Club – North Somerset League  Mixed & Men’s
England Seniors – European Championships 2016

Best Achievement in badminton:
Possibly, getting the Chew Valley Junior Club up and running (with the help of Lynne, Will and others)  – otherwise playing ‘County Level’ Badminton after coming to the game relatively late and or winning various league tournaments.

And…..

In September 2016 there was the small matter of playing at the European Seniors Badminton Championships in Podcetrtek, Slovenia and with my partner Dave Gribble we won doubles GOLD!

Person who inspired me most in badminton:
Keith Vernon a fantastic player, with amazing shots and reactions – always ready to play with and encourage players of lesser ability (including me)

Favourite Badminton player:
Liem Swie King – a former Indonesian badminton player who excelled from the late 1970s through the mid-1980s. He won the All England in 1978, 1979 and 1981. He was powerful, fast and a dominating figure when I started playing badminton competitively

Favourite sporting quote:
“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” Jesse Owens

Interesting fact(s) about myself:
A few years ago I organised and ran the St. Paul’s Carnival.  I am a Lay-Reader (minister) in the Anglican Church (CoE)
